HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team (4-6-1) blanked Rutgers-Camden (5-5-2) by a 1-0 final on Wednesday afternoon on Walton Field. Max Mouer scored in the 26th minute, curling in a corner kick that floated into the back of the net for his first career tally, while goalkeepers Ben Menko and Aaron Cohen split time between the pipes in a shutout effort as both were making their collegiate debuts.

After Haverford peppered the net in the early goings, it was its third corner kick of the contest that produced a goal as Tomas Ascoli initially took a corner that was deflected out of danger by the Scarlet Raptors defense. On the opposite side of the field, Mouer lined up for the second consecutive set piece and craftily slotted the ball screaming towards the far post and in, setting off a wild bench celebration as Haverford suddenly found itself ahead in the contest on the floater.

Haverford dominated the possession in that first half, only allowing an extremely limited amount of offensive chances for the visitors. In total, Haverford held a 5-1 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes of play. The Fords came out firing in the second half, tallying the first four shot attempts of the stanza. Liam O'Malley was again a standout performer offensively, firing a shot on frame in the early goings and later adding a strong chance on a header. He finished with four shots to lead all players in the contest.

Rutgers-Camden recorded a flurry of shots in the final minutes of action, chasing the equalizer with a renewed fervor. Cohen made a stellar save on Ian Bialy's rocketed attempt with under four minutes remaining, and the backline did well to challenge any thoughts of the visitors tying the score late.

Cohen finished with a pair of saves in his first collegiate game action. The win was Haverford's first over Rutgers-Camden since the 2015 campaign and Haverford's first win over the Scarlet Raptors at home on Walton Field in the history of the series, which dates back to 1996.

The Fords return to action on Saturday, October 9 at home on Walton Field against Ursinus. The contest is slated to begin at 3 p.m. and will follow women's soccer taking on the Bears at noon.
