HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team (6-6-1) scored a trio of goals on Tuesday afternoon at home on Walton Field, as the Fords remained undefeated in the month of October after defeating Drew (4-7-1) by a final of 3-1. Haverford has outscored opponents 6-1 during the four-match winning streak.

Haverford looked to control the pace of the game from the start. The team held most of the possession, getting many early touches in the opponents half. Liam O'Malley recorded the teams first shot in the 11th minute but it drifted wide. After the first attempt, it became clear that Drew was vulnerable and the Fords wanted to take advantage.

Paul-Andre Coulibaly drew a crowd with every touch of the ball, being fouled three times in the first half, one coming in the 19th minute. The first shot on goal was the ensuing free kick when Matt Heim put his head to the ball. The ball seemed destined to hit the bottom corner of the net but Drew's goalkeeper made a stellar save.

Andrew Peebles was also key in the first half. The junior looked comfortable and kept the backline organized, stepping in between passes that could threaten Ben Menko. One pivotal moment came in the 20th minute where Peebles sprinted back to stop a through ball played by one of the Drew forwards. The Fords got even closer to the game opening goal when Cyrus Nasseri lasered a shot off the crossbar in the 26th minute.

Haverford, still holding most of the possession, got their breakthrough in the 31st minute. Nasseri, causing havoc on the right side of the field, found Noah Schwab who turned beautifully to bring the ball onto his left foot at the top of the box. After his turn, he fired a low driving shot to the left corner, past the Rangers goalkeeper to make it 1-0. It was Schwab's second goal of the season.

The Fords went into halftime ahead 8-3 on shots attempts and looked to continue the same form in the second half.

There was some controversy early in the second half. In the 57th minute, Alex Millones carried the ball down the right side of the field. Once reaching the goal line, Millones crossed the ball to Coulibaly who seemed to be pushed in the back but the referee did not reward the penalty despite the claims.

There were four early offside calls as both teams looked to be aggressive. Drew was on the backfoot in the first 20 minutes and the Fords took advantage of the Rangers next mistake. As Drew attempted a back pass in the 69th minute, Nasseri was the quicker player, getting to the ball before the defender. One on one with the keeper, Nasseri shifted the ball the left and around the goalie, placing the ball in the back of the net to give the Fords a two goal advantage.

The Rangers looked to get something out of the game with a flurry of opportunities with 16 minutes remaining. Their goal came with 15:19 left to play when Kevin Kiernan scored on a cross from Matthew Agudelo to make it 2-1.

It wouldn't take long for Haverford to answer with another goal of their own, with 11:16 left to play. Paul-Andre Coulibaly beat the keeper with a left footed shot for his fourth goal of the season. The assist was awarded to Brian Lorenz, his first of the season.

Although Ben Menko started the game in net, it was Aaron Cohen who had to do much of the work in the second half with four saves. The Fords held onto their two goal lead and see the game out to extend their winning streak to four.

Haverford improves to 7-4 all-time against the Rangers in a series that dates back to the 1979 season. The teams have met in each of the last four seasons.  Men's soccer now takes its winning streak away for a conference matchup with McDaniel on Saturday, October 16 at 1 p.m.
