ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team returned to the road for a Centennial Conference matchup at Varsity Field on the campus of Muhlenberg College Wednesday evening. The host Mules secured a 2-0 victory, improving to 6-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play, while the Fords fell to 1-6-4 overall and 0-2-1 in the Centennial Conference.

The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team finding the back of the net through the first 45 minutes. Muhlenberg held Haverford without a shot in the early stages, as Jackson Simon stood strong against several attempts by the Mules. In the 11th minute, Sim Dorsey's shot went wide left, followed by a close call in the 15th minute when Jake Mendelson's shot hit the post. Mendelson's follow-up attempt was blocked, as the Fords' defense thwarted several attempts by the Mules to break through in the early goings.

Haverford recorded its first shot in the 68th minute, with Thomas Vanni missing wide. Unfortunately for the visitors, the second half also saw a more aggressive Muhlenberg offense, leading to the game's first goal in the 72nd minute. Evan Schlotterbeck delivered a lofted corner into the box, where the ball bounced around before reaching Sam Roberts. Roberts then sent a precise centering pass to a charging Schlotterbeck, who finished with a well-placed shot to put the Mules on the board.

Five minutes later, Muhlenberg struck again from another corner. The high service into the box from Schlotterbeck found Trevor Mikuta, who one-timed a quick pass to Thomas Shreiber who finished in front of the goal line, extending the Mules' lead to 2-0.

Despite the setback, the Fords continued to fight. In the 80th minute, Andrew Fritz responded with a shot on goal, but Muhlenberg's goalkeeper made the save. Thomas Vanni also had a shot on target in the 89th minute.

The Mules outshot the Fords 16-5 and tallied nine corners to Haverford's one on the evening. Simon recorded one save.

The Fords will return to action on Saturday, facing No. 9 Dickinson at home on Walton Field. The match, Haverford's annual Play With Pride match, will kick off at noon.
