HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College midfielder and senior co-captain Joey Carol has been chosen to represent the USA Men's Open Soccer Delegation at the 2025 Maccabiah Games in Israel this summer.
Carol, a native of Cornelius, N.C., secured his spot after competing in an open tryout with over 100 invited players, including numerous Division I athletes. He will participate in the Open Division, which comprises senior-level players, while the Maccabiah Games also include Juniors, Masters (25+, 45+, 55+), and Youth divisions.
During his four seasons with the Fords, the Woodlawn School alum has contributed two goals across 34 starts and helped fortify a defense that recorded five shutouts in 2023.
The Maccabiah Games, held every four years, is the world's second-largest international sporting event, drawing over 10,000 athletes from 80 countries competing in 40+ sports.
In addition to athletic competition, athletes in the Juniors, Youth, Open, and Paralympic divisions will explore Israel's historic and religious landmarks, engage in cultural identity workshops, and strengthen team bonds—fostering lifelong friendships. Past U.S. Maccabiah participants include Olympians like Anthony Ervin, Jason Lezak, and Mark Spitz. For more on the event and eligibility, visit maccabiusa.com.
