Garrett plays into semifinals at ITA regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Haverford College men's tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional at the University of Mary Washington on Oct. 1-2 and came away with solid results to culminate the fall season.

Will Garrett played into the semifinal round of the B2 singles draw and also teamed up with Jacob Weisenthal to reach the quarterfinal round of the championship doubles draw.

Garrett cruised through his first match winning in straight sets dropping just six games to reach the quarterfinals where he defeated Dickinson College's Dixon Blue 7-6 (3), 6-2.

In the semifinal round Garrett split the first two sets with Roanoke College's James Lee before falling 1-0 (6) in the deciding third set. Lee went on to capture the B2 singles championship.

Garrett and Weisenthal took their opening match by a score of 8-4 over Nick Mancuso and Curtis Quandt from Salisbury University but were eliminated in the quarterfinal round. Mary Washington's Evan Charles and Donato Rizzolo downed the Haverford pair 8-4 before falling in the semifinals to the eventual championship draw titlists.

The regional closes out the fall competition schedule for Haverford. The spring schedule commences with a Feb. 29 non-conference match against the Stevens Institute of Technology.
