Fords battle, but fall to #30 Occidental

GLENDALE, Calif. – Haverford College's men's tennis team tried to tame the Tigers in their home den but 30th-ranked Occidental College was able to hold off the challenge with a 6-3 non-conference victory over the visiting Fords Thursday evening.

Haverford falls to 1-2 on the year while Occidental improves to 7-2.

Kevin Caulfield teamed with Danny Himelstein at No.1 doubles to capture the first point of the match for Haverford, then Caulfield nabbed the team's second point with a straight-set win over Oxy's Kevin Siebs at the No. 1 singles spot.

Matt Romei also won a match 2-0 for the Fords as he downed Jordan Brown at No. 3.

The Fords' spring break swing in California closes Friday with a late contest against host and 12th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer College.
