Men's tennis takes down Gettysburg to open Centennial play

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team opened Centennial Conference action with a 7-2 victory over Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon at the Norman B. Bramall Tennis Courts.

The Fords (3-3 CC, 1-0) won their second consecutive match with the victory over the Bullets (3-2, 0-1).

Haverford swept singles to key the victory. Kevin Caulfield at No. 1, Natty Sergay at No. 2, Matt Romei at No. 3, Andy Dougherty at No. 4, and Will Garrett at No. 6 all rolled to straight-set victories. Dougherty dropped a mere two games over the course of his match with Terry Keegan. Jake Weisenthal, at No. 5, overcame a 6-4 setback in set one with a 6-0, 6-2 effort in the remaining sets to secure his win.

Caulfield teamed with Danny Himelstein, at No. 1 doubles, to record the Fords' other point of the day with an 8-3 victory over Chris Curran and Scott Johnson. 

Haverford returns to action on Tuesday when it welcomes Cabrini College at 4 p.m. for non-conference play.
