Men's tennis rolls past Dickinson

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 Centennial Conference victory over visiting Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon at the Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center in Alumni Field House.

The Fords (5-4, 2-1 CC) broke out to a 3-0 lead over the Red Devils (5-5, 2-2) following doubles play then streaked to the win with wins at each singles position.

Matt Romei, who had teamed with Matthew Cebul in the win at No. 2 doubles, earned Haverford's fourth point of the day with a straight set, 6-2, 6-2, win at No. 2 singles. Kevin Caulfield clinched the victory with the team's fifth point in a 2-0 win at 1-singles with the identical scores of Romei's win.

Jacob Weisenthal rebounded from a first-set loss at 4- singles to down Dickinson's Ari Blask with wins in the second and third sets. Andy Dougherty went up 1-0 on the Red Devils' Franco Mena at No. 3 singles but dropped a 6-1 second-set before rallying for the win in the final set.

Haverford hits the road with little rest from Saturday's victory, traveling to Westminster, Md., on Sunday to take on host McDaniel College in a make-up match that had been rained out on Saturday, March 24.
