BALTIMORE, Md. – Haverford College's men's tennis team was unable to extend a three-match win streak when it traveled to 16th-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, falling to the host Blue Jays, 9-0, in a Centennial Conference contest.

The Fords (7-5, 4-2 CC), ranked ninth in the Atlantic South Region, fell behind Hopkins (9-4, 6-0) after doubles action as the Blue Jays swept the three doubles matches.

Hopkins, ranked second in the Atlantic South, then clinched the match with victories at Nos. 4 and 6 singles.

The final two matches of the day showed the Fords' mettle, though Haverford's Kevin Caulfield and Matt Romei eventually fell in defeat.

Romei dropped a 2-0 decision to Warren Elgort at 3-singles, but Romei's narrow losses were by 7-5 and 7-6 (10-8) scores.

At No. 1 singles,Caulfield broke ahead of Hopkins' Andy Hersh with a 6-3 set-one victory. Hersh answered with his own 6-3 win in the second set before closing out the victory with a 1-0 (10-5) win in the super-set tie breaker.

A non-conference home match on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. against the University of the Sciences is next up for the Fords who then welcome Franklin & Marshall College to Bramall Courts for a Centennial contest on Saturday, April 14 at noon.
