PHILADELPHIA - Haverford College junior Kevin Caulfield has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer 2012 Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Performer of the Year as announced Monday by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA).

Caulfield, a mainstay at the number one flight in both singles and doubles for the Fords, rose to as high as eighth in singles in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Region poll before finishing the season ranked 11th.

A psychology major, Caulfield registered a 14-2 singles record, including a sterling 6-1 mark in Centennial Conference play this season. The native of Honolulu is a two-time member of the Centennial academic honor roll and also earned first-team all-conference honors in both singles and doubles for the second consecutive year.  

The performer of the year and the academic all-area squad are voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area that comprises Philly-SIDA.

Caulfield is joined on the academic all-area team by Swarthmore's Max Bressman, Gwynedd-Mercy's Jared Morgan, Temple's Kacper Rams, University of the Sciences' Alvaro Vargas and Saint Joseph's Alexis Veronis.
