HAVERFORD, Pa. – The men's tennis team from Haverford College tried to rally back from a deficit following doubles play, but were only able to capture three points in singles action during Wednesday evening's 6-3 non-conference loss to the visitors from the Stevens Insitute of Technology.

Playing indoor at The Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center in Alumni Field House, Haverford (0-2) got off to a slow start dropping all three doubles matches to the Ducks (1-1) by narrow two-game scores.

Trying to rally with singles action on the courts, the Fords picked up their first point from Matt Romei who defeated Stevens' Shota Tasaki in straight sets at No. 3. Romei downed Tasaki 7-5 in the first then closed out the win with a 6-4 victory.

Matthew Cebul picked up Haverford's second point with a quick 6-2, 6-1 win over Stevens' Nicholas Rosasco at 6-singles.

The Fords' final point of the night came in the No. 1 spot as Kevin Caulfield rallied from a first-game loss to win out over Chris Rosensteel by scores of 6-2, 1-0 (10-6).

Another point was working its way into Haverford's favor at 5-singles where Zack Mason opened with a 6-4 victory over Tyler Tisdale. The two battled their way through a second set, won by Tisdale by a score of 7-5, before a third set 1-0 (10-5) victory by the Stevens player to complete the rally.

Haverford won't hit the courts again against an opponent until traveling to California over spring break when it will square off against 10th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, No. 26 Chapman University, and Whittier College.
