Victory at Dickinson marks 5th straight win for men's tennis

CARLISLE, Pa. – A 7-2 Centennial Conference victory at Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon marked the fifth straight win for Haverford College's men's tennis team.

Four of the five wins by Haverford (5-4, 4-0 CC) have come against conference opponents. Dickinson falls to 2-9 overall and 1-3 within the league after Saturday's loss.

After sweeping through doubles action with three wins over Red Devil tandems, the Fords closed out the match winning four singles matches.

Andy Dougherty faced the biggest challenges during Haveford's singles victories. He squared off against Dickinson's Joey Frank at No. 4 and the two played point for point for the entirety of the opening set. Dougherty finally won the set tie-breaker, 10-6, to capture the set by a 7-6 score. The second set was much less harrowing for Dougherty as he rolled to a 6-1 win.

Kevin Caulfield at 1-singles, Luis Acaba at No. 2 and Zack Mason at 5-singles all won easily in straight sets with each dropping no more than a total of four games in their victories.

The Fords put their win streak on the line Wednesday against visiting University of the Sciences, then follow that non-conference date with a Centennial match Thursday against visiting Muhlenberg College.
