Men's tennis rolls past Muhlenberg, win streak at 7

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team extended its win streak to seven after downing visiting Muhlenberg College Wednesday afternoon, 9-0, in a Centennial Conference match on the Bramall Courts.

Haverford (7-4, 5-0 CC) kept the Mules (2-5, 1-3) at bay in singles action, allowing the visitors to win no more than three games in any set.

Doubles action saw the Fords race out to a 3-0 lead after wins by each of the Haverford pairings. In singles play that followed, Kevin Caulfield started the home team off on the right foot with a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1.

Matthew Cebul and Jacob Weisenthal each pulled out two points on the day for Haverford.

Cebul paired with Matt Romei in a win at 1-doubles then captured another point with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. Weisenthal pounded out a 6-0, 6-2 win at 5-singles after teaming with Harrison Elbert for a win at No. 3 doubles.

The Haverford win streak will face perhaps its biggest challenge Saturday afternoon in Baltimore where the Fords will square off against eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins University in a conference show down.
