Caulfield earns weekly Centennial honor

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College's Kevin Caulfield capped the regular season with an unblemished week on the tennis courts to merit player of the the week recognition from the Centennial Conference for the third time in his standout career.

Caulfield swept through the week unbeaten as the Fords closed the regular season with a 2-0 record against Centennial opponents. Caulfield -- ranked 10th in the Atlantic South Region -- captured straight-set wins at No. 1 singles against Ursinus and 26th-ranked Swarthmore, including a victory over the seventh-ranked singles player in the match against the Garnet. At No. 1 doubles he teamed with Danny Himelstein (a pairing that is eighth in the region) for an 8-5 win at Ursinus and then a 9-8(4) win against visiting Swarthmore.

Caulfield and the Fords open Centennial tournament play Saturday at Franklin & Marshall College with the winner advancing into the tournament championship on Sunday in Baltimore, Md.
