Centennial Conference Preseason Poll

Centennial Conference Team-by-Team Preview

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team picked up one first-place vote and was projected for a third-place finish overall in the Centennial Conference men's tennis preseason poll. In a poll of the conference's head coaches, the Fords received 62 voting points overall.

Men's tennis returns every player from its starting lineup which finished third last season. That returning core includes a record-breaking number of All-Centennial Conference performers from last season.

The Fords had four players named All-Centennial Conference in singles for the first time in program history. Haverford's two first-team All-CC selections last season – Josh Moskovitz and Kevin Yan – are the last two Centennial Conference Rookies of the Year and became just the fifth pair of teammates to earn first-team all-conference singles honors in the same season for Haverford. Eli Phelps (second team) and Dais Nakayama (honorable mention) were also all-conference honorees in singles. On top of those four, the singles lineup also returns senior captain Ishaan Prinz who was 11-7 last year with a 5-2 CC mark in singles.

However, the awards were not limited to singles as Haverford had two different doubles teams represented on the All-Centennial Conference list for just the fourth time in school history. The pairings of Moskovitz/Nakayama and Raja Arul/David Kong both earned second-team All-Centennial Conference accolades. The Fords were a combined 20-7 in Centennial Conference doubles matches last season.

Men's tennis has made the Centennial Conference Tournament in 11 of the past 12 seasons, reaching at least the semifinal round during each of those postseason appearances. Haverford has played for the conference championship during three of those tournament runs, with its most recent championship appearance coming during the 2013. The Fords went 10-9 overall last season with a 7-2 record against Centennial Conference opposition during the regular season. Seven of Haverford's losses came against nationally-ranked opponents during the 2017 campaign.
