David Kong Named CC Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – David Kong has been named the Centennial Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The award is the first of Kong's career and marks the second straight week in which a Haverford player has won this award, with Josh Moskovitz earning that recognition last week.

Kong went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles competition during Haverford's trip to Florida over Spring Break. Kong played as high as No. 3 singles in the lineup and won each of those matches in straight sets. He did not allow more than two games during four of the six singles sets he played this past week and is now a perfect 9-0 in singles dating back to the fall season.

A second-team All-Centennial Conference selection in doubles during his rookie campaign, Kong has teamed up with last week's Centennial Conference Player of the Week to start the spring. Haverford's No. 1 pairing of Kong and Moskovitz went 2-1 together over the three matches in Florida. The only blemish on the duo's record was a defeat to the No. 1 pairing from nationally-ranked Millsaps as Haverford also went 2-1 as a team. Doubles overall have been a strength of the Fords as they are a combined 11-4 in those matches so far this spring.

Men's tennis will return to its home courts this Saturday for the start of Centennial Conference play. That match against McDaniel is set to get underway at 12 p.m. and will be the start of a stretch where the Fords are home for five of their next six matches.
