ITA Atlantic South Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team checked in at No. 13 as a team in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic South Region rankings. Moving up in the rankings was Josh Moskovitz as he climbed six spots to No. 10 in the region for singles. Moskovitz and doubles partner David Kong also entered the regional ranking as the 12th ranked doubles team.

As a team, Haverford has clinched the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament. The Fords are 10-6 this spring with each of their six defeats coming to nationally-ranked opponents. Three of those losses have come in either 6-3 or 5-4 final team scores. The Fords have won nearly 90 percent of their total matches against teams not in the nation's top 40.

Moskovitz made his climb in the regional rankings after defeating a pair of regionally-ranked opponents since the previous rankings release two weeks ago. He is currently 9-7 overall in singles, with an 8-5 record at the top spot in the lineup. The Fords' junior co-captain defeated the then-No. 22 player in the region from Ursinus in straight sets and toppled then-No. 13 Vishnu Joshi from Johns Hopkins in a decisive third set. Moskovitz is 5-1 in Centennial Conference singles matches with his only defeat coming to the No. 29 player in the national rankings.

Teaming up with Kong in doubles, Haverford's top pairing is 8-4 together this spring with a 5-1 record in Centennial Conference matches. That duo had won five straight matches together before a hard-fought defeat at Swarthmore. In six of that pairing's eight victories, it has not allowed the opposition more than five games during a match. Kong is also excelling in singles with a team-best 15-3 overall record.

Men's tennis will wrap up its regular season this Saturday with a trip to Gettysburg. First serves in that match are scheduled for 1 p.m. The Fords will begin their postseason journey against the loser of Swarthmore and Johns Hopkins during the Centennial Conference semifinals next Saturday, May 6. Haverford will be making its 12th postseason appearance in the last 13 years since the conference tournament's inception.
