Men's Tennis Places Five On All-CC Teams

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team was well represented on the All-Centennial Conference teams with five honorees on the All-CC teams, the second most behind conference champion Swarthmore, the conference office announced in its annual postseason awards release. 

Sophomore Stefan Johnson took home a spot on the All-Centennial singles first team while Andreas Wingert was named to the singles second team and James McKenzie picked up honorable mention. 

The doubles pairing of Johnson and McKenzie was named to the All-CC second-team, joining the pairing of Adam Chow and Justin Minerva. In addition, senior Abhinav Nallapareddy earned a spot on the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team. 

Johnson, of Florence, Mass. followed up his stellar first year campaign with another strong performance as a sophomore. He settled into a strong performance at the top two flights, going 5-4 at the top flight and 4-3 at the second flight this season, often going against regionally-ranked opponents. 

Wingert, of Hummelstown, Pa. followed up his Rookie of the Year campaign with another solid effort as a sophomore, this time appearing primarily at the first two flights after nearly all of his starts coming at the second flight as a rookie. Wingert went 5-5 at the top flight, and 5-2 at the second flight for the Fords. 

McKenzie, of Melbourne, Australia, grabbed an honorable mention singles slot after having a penchant for clinching key matches for the Fords this season. McKenzie went 12-5 in the dual match season, appearing at each of the first five singles flights. He went 6-4 at the fourth spot and 3-0 at the fifth, and was also 1-0 at the top flight.

The doubles pairing of Johnson and McKenzie, as well as the team of Chow and Minerva earned second-team honors. The Johnson/McKenzie duo went 7-4 at the top flight, including a 4-2 mark in CC play. The team of Chow and Minerva went 6-6, including 4-2 in CC play and 6-5 at the second doubles flight. 

Nallapareddy went 5-1 this season, appearing at the third, fourth, and fifth flights throughout the season for Haverford.

Swarthmore led the way with six players on the All-CC team, followed by Haverford (5), Franklin & Marshall (4), Johns Hopkins (3), Washington College (3), Ursinus (2), and Gettysburg (1).
