Men's Tennis Places Four on College Sports Communicators All-District Squad

Full CSC Academic All-District Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's tennis team placed four student-athletes on the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team, as announced in a postseason release on Tuesday afternoon.

Adam Chow and Justin Minerva reprised their honors from the 2022-23 campaign, while Kirin Eicher and Niki Lavu earned the honors for the first time. Last season (2022-23) marked the first full tennis-specific CSC Academic All-District team announcement.

This honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or above, and be a starter or significant reserve. Select Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 5.

Chow, of Hong Kong, was 7-1 overall during the dual-match season, including an unblemished 6-0 mark in CC play, with a 4-0 record at the fifth flight. The senior finished the season on a six-match winning streak and went 7-3 over his last 10 matches. Additionally, Chow was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship team following the conclusion of the regular season. 

Minerva, of Bala Cynwyd, Pa., had a strong junior season on the court, posting an 11-12 mark with an 8-9 record during the dual-match season. He went 4-3 at the third flight and 1-0 at the second flight for Haverford and has a 22-17 overall career singles record through his first three seasons. In doubles, Minerva went 8-10 during the dual-match portion of the season, teaming with Chow as the duo went 8-8, including a 5-2 mark during the CC season.

Eicher, of Silver Spring, Md., was an Ambler Scholar-Athlete, an award given to the top 15 senior student-athlete GPAs in the Class of 2024. A four-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete, Eicher appeared primarily in doubles, logging a 15-19 career record with seven wins at the top two flights. He also compiled an 8-1 career singles record.

Lavu, of nearby Bryn Mawr, Pa., earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor as a sophomore after going 10-5 in singles during the 2023-24 season, including a 9-5 mark during the dual-match season. Lavu also grabbed two doubles wins during the fall season. He finished the season strong with a win over No. 15 Johns Hopkins at the sixth flight, prevailing over Pranav Gadiraju by consecutive 6-3 set wins. In total, Lavu grabbed five consecutive wins to begin the season and also posted a key triumph over No. 38 Salisbury.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
