Personal bests at Tuppeny move Fords up national list

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Tuppeny Twilight Last Chance Meet hosted by Swarthmore College on Monday evening proved to be another strong outing for Haverford College's men's outdoor track team as several racers posted career-best times to move up the national qualifying list.

Andrew Golato's time of 1 minute, 51.59 seconds in the 800 meter run now stands as the nation's 11th-fastest 800 among Division III runners. Teammate Tim Schoch owns a previously-posted time of 1:59.95 which is the 15th-fastest this spring.

Schoch raced, instead, in the 1,500 Monday night and pushed his personal best to 3:48.98, the nation's fifth-fastest time. He is one spot behind Haverford's Jordan Schilit who posted a Tuppeny time of 3:47.21 to slide up to the nation's fourth spot. A third Ford, Michael Riccio, also registered a career-best time, 3:52.40, Monday night to move up to No. 25 on the 1,500's national performance list.

Haverford moved a pair into the top-20 of the national 5,000 listing as both Peter Kissin and Faraz Sohail raced to personal bests at Swarthmore. Kissin now ranks 15th in the nation with a time of 14:29.66 while Sohail is 18th with a 14:30.97.

The Fords picked up an event win Monday in the 3,000 meter steeplechase as Avi Bregman captured the title with a time of 9:08.31 moving up to the 15th spot on the D-III performance list.

Several Fords will likely head to one more last chance meet, hosted by The College of New Jersey on Thursday, May 17, hoping to better their chances of qualifying for the national meet which takes place May 24-26 in Claremont, Calif.
