Bregman leads Fords at Muhlenberg

MUHLENBERG, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track and field team competed at both the Muhlenberg (College) Invitational and the Colonial Relays on Saturday.

Avi Bregman had the Fords' best finish on the day. The senior ran to the top spot in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Muhlenberg, crossing the finish line in 9 minute, 8.10 seconds. Daniel Stackman also had a top-10 result in the event, capturing the ninth best finish with a time of 10:23.27.

In the high jump, Gibby Graves posted the third best height, leaping over the bar at 1.93 meters (6 feet, 4 inches). The junior also finished in 12th in the triple jump (12.04 m, 39-06) and 21st in the long jump (5.77 m, 18-11.25).

Robert Parry led the Fords in both the discus and shot put. The thrower launched the shot put 11.14 meters (36-6.75), good for the 17th farthest distance. Parry's toss of 33.54 meters (110 feet) was also the 17th best result in the discus. Teammate Alex Smith finished in 19th (10.24 m, 33-07.25) in the shot put and 24th in the discus (28.92 m, 94-10).

On the track side, Jonathan Yellets placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.44, the second fastest finish in the Centennial Conference this season. The sophomore sprinter also competed in the 200-meter dash and took home a time of 22.90 seconds and a 13th-place result.

Haverford also sent a handful of athletes to the 49th Colonial Relays hosted by The College of William & Mary over the weekend. The quartet of Soren Rasmussen, Cormac Rada, Chris Gardner, and Christopher Stadler ran in the 4x800-meter relay in Williamsburg, Va., on Saturday. The group finished the event in 7:53.02 and crossed the finish line in the 21st position.

Haverford now has a week to prepare for its next meet, the West Chester (University) Invitational, which will occur next Saturday, April 12.
