Marquardt Sets Personal Record at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team wrapped up the regular season portion of its schedule with the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.

In the 1,500m event, junior Charlie Marquardt finished as the highest Division III runner in the field (third place) and set a personal record (3:43.84). Marquardt's time is also the best in Division III by two seconds and the eighth fastest all-time and now gives him the top two times in Division III in the 1,500m.

Senior David Roza also posted his best time of the outdoor season (3:59.20) in the 1,500m. Sophomore Julian Schneider (4:03.64), freshman Tyler Fong (4:03.79), junior Ryan Gooding (4:08.62), and freshman James Stadler (4:12.59) also had career best runs.

During the 800m race, senior Soren Rasmussen had his best time in the spring by almost four seconds (1:56.81) while senior Chris Gardner set a personal best with a 1:56.95.

The 3,000m steeplechase had junior Nick Gandolfo-Lucia shatter his personal best time by over 15 seconds (9:26.53) and senior John Curry had his second quickest time during the spring season with a 9:44.70.

Haverford had a top five finish in the high jump from senior Gibby Graves (third) with a 1.98m jump while senior Chaz Schneider tied his career high (1.78m). Graves also placed third in the long jump (6.88m), his second best jump outdoors.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad will now travel to the NCAA Championships in Canton, N.Y., hosted by St. Lawrence from May 21-23. The Fords have finished in the top ten each of the past two seasons with a tie for sixth place in 2014 and eighth place tally in 2013.
