CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team enjoyed a successful day at the Chester Quarry Classic on a beautiful spring afternoon. Freshman Graham Peet notched a win for the Fords, finishing first in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Quite a number of Haverford entrants set new career bests.
Peet finished with a time of 9:27.74. Haverford filled up the top ten with runners finishing in each position from second place through seventh, and also ninth. James Stadler led the list with a time of 9:43.19 in a third place finish.
The 4x100 team took home a second place finish in 43.20 seconds, just a few tenths behind first place.
Freshman Liam Lynch set the tone on his outdoor track career when he placed second in the 400 meters with a 49.54 second finish, just about a tenth of a second off from first. Lynch also took home an eight place finish in the 200 meters (22.78 seconds). Jonathan Yellets came in sixth in the same event (22.63 seconds) to set a new career best.
In the 1500 meters, junior Michael Brier set a new career best, clocking in at 3:58.67. His third place finish beat his previous record by a second. Julian Schneider, Sam Fujimori, and Greg Morgan headlined a list of seven Haverford runners inside the top ten.
Senior Jeffrey Ainsley garnered a fifth place finish in the 110 hurdles with a final time of 15.22 seconds, just off from his career high of 15.20. Also in the hurdles, senior Dorvil Gabriel placed fourth in the 400h, clocking in at 56.70 seconds for a new personal best. Gabriel also took home a seventh place finish in the triple jump (12.82m).
In the high jump, freshmen Michael Bueno and Rohan Shukla placed in a tie for seventh at 1.50m.
Next weekend, the Haverford track & field team heads back to Chester for the Widener Invitational starting on Friday, April 22 at 5 p.m. and continuing on Saturday morning.
