HANOVER, Ind. – Led by senior Christopher Stadler's 19th-place finish Saturday afternoon, Haverford College's men's cross country team took 10th place in the team race at the NCAA Division III 2013 men's cross country championship hosted by Hanover College.
Saturday's results gave Stadler his second All-American certificate in as many years from the national cross country race. He finished 12th at the 2012 meet.
The 2013 championship was captured by St. Olaf (Minn.) College which eked out a two-point victory over runner-up and defending champion North Central (Ill.) College. St. Olaf accumulated 84 points to North Central's 86.
Among Centennial Conference schools, Dickinson College and Johns Hopkins University were sandwiched around the Fords' 351 points in the finals standings. Dickinson was eighth with 298 points while conference-champion Johns Hopkins registered an 11th-place finish with 355 points.
Michael LeDuc of Connecticut College raced to the individual title, covering the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24 minutes, 29.3 seconds, to finish four seconds ahead of runner-up John Crain of North Central.
Stadler posted a time of 25:08.5 to lead Haverford's scoring five which also included senior Avi Bregman (50th, 25:33.0), sophomore Charlie Marquardt (83rd, 25:49.0), junior Joel Christian (154th, 26:16.8) and freshman Sam Fujimori (168th, 26:24.0).
Freshman Jimmy Gorman (235th) and sophomore Dylan Verner-Crist (261) rounded out the Haverford runners in the championship race.
