Men's Cross Country Impresses at Haverford Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The No. 30 Haverford College men's cross country team hosted the annual Haverford Invitational on the Alumni Cross Country Course Thursday afternoon in some unseasonably warm weather.

Senior Charlie Ferguson paced the Fords with a ninth-place overall finish in 21:13.9. Ferguson was followed by Luke De Valpine in 14th (21:40.8), while Joseph DeRosa (22:15.9) and Owen Bluman (22:19.2) also logged top 20 finishes for the Fords.

Torin Pelton-Flavin (22:33.4) was the 23rd runner to cross, ahead of Rowan Shigeno (22:45.2), who posted a personal best in 25th. Sam Diaz crossed in 27th (22:46.3) with a new personal record, while Tommaso Wheeler (a new personal-best 23:04.3) and Deven Abrams (23:12.2) finished in 28th and 29th, respectively.

Kieran McDonnell (23:50.2, 31st), Xingyun Yang, with a new personal best (24:38, 33rd), Cullen Worth (24:44.8, 34th), and Keqing He (28:23.7, 37th) rounded out the Haverford contingent in the four-mile trek.

In the team standings, Haverford finished third behind Division I Penn and St. Joseph's. Bailey Habler won the overall meet title in 20:00.9, while Michael Glavin of St. Joseph's was the top attached finisher in fifth overall (20:46.1).

Haverford's top 12 will now prepare for the Centennial Conference Championships, which are slated for Saturday, October 28 at McDaniel. The men's 8K championship is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., with the women's championship to follow at approximately noon.
