Men's Cross Country All-CC Teams Announced; Donnelly Coach of the Year

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's cross country squad had eight members on the All-Centennial Conference teams, the conference announced today. Head coach Tom Donnelly was honored as the Coach of the Year for the second straight season and fifth time in his career.

Donnelly, in his 41st season at the helm of the track and cross country teams, has helped produce 92 All-Centennial first team cross country runners, 62 more than the next closest school, Dickinson (30).

The All-CC first team is the top seven runners from the Centennial Conference Championship. Senior Charlie Marquardt, junior Jimmy Gorman, senior Sam Fujimori were first-team members by virtue of their finishes. Marquardt was the Runner of the Year for winning his second straight individual title. The senior is just the fifth person in conference history and fourth person from Haverford to win back-to-back titles. Chris Stadler '14 (2012-13), current cross country assistant coach J.B. Haglund '02 (2000-01) and Karl Paranya '97 (1994-96) were the other runners under head coach Tom Donnelly to win multiple crowns.

The eighth through 14th place finishers at the conference meet were awarded All-CC second team honors. Freshman Graham Peet, who was also picked as Rookie of the Year, was eighth, followed by senior Nicholas Gandolfo-Lucia (ninth), sophomore Henry Woods (10th), junior Michael Brier (11th) and senior Dylan Verner-Crist (14th).

Fujimori, Gandolfo-Lucia, Woods, Brier, Verner-Crist were also selected to the Fall Academic Honor Roll. Senior Bill Ristow was named to the conference All-Sportsmanship team.

Haverford, ranked No. 7 nationally, will run in the Mideast Regional in Newville, Pa. this weekend (Nov. 14) with an eye on the NCAA Championships in Oshkosh, Wisc. the following week (Nov. 21).
