NEW ORLEANS – For the second straight year, senior Charlie Marquardt was selected as the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Mideast Regional Runner of the Year. Head coach Tom Donnelly was also named the regional Coach of the Year for the fourth time in the last six years.

The senior is the first repeat winner of the accolade since Bobby Over of Allegheny won from 2011-13. Marquardt is the first Fords' runner to win the honor since Anders Hulleberg '11 during the 2010 season.

The back-to-back award winner won his second consecutive individual title at the regional race with a time of 25:14.8, nine seconds in front of Muhlenberg's Jaryd Flank. The senior is on an incredible run, having won the last four races he's entered and six of the last eight events.

The Fords won the Mideast Regional to claim the automatic qualifer to the NCAA Championship, it's fourth straight meet victory this season. Haverford has won 22 regional crowns, this one being the first since 2012. Donnelly's squad had 67 team points, 26 fewer than Elizabethtown, who will receive the other automatic qualifier.

Earlier this year, Marquardt became the 18th Ford to win the Centennial Conference event. The senior is just the fifth person in conference history and fourth person from Haverford to win back-to-back titles. Chris Stadler '14 (2012-13), current cross country assistant coach J.B. Haglund '02 (2000-01) and Karl Paranya '97 (1994-96) were the other runners under head coach Tom Donnelly to win multiple crowns.

The No. 7 nationally ranked Fords will run in the NCAA Championship on Saturday at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin. Haverford has finished in the top ten in nine of the last 11 national meets, highlighted by the team's national championship in 2010.
