No. 15 Men's Cross Country Finishes Sixth At Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The No. 15 Haverford College men's cross country team finished sixth amongst 45 squads in a crowded field of nationally-ranked opposition at the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Haverford competed in the "Brown" race on the Lehigh University Campus course.

The Fords were again paced by junior Henry Woods, who finished in 15th place overall with a time of 24:59, a new career-best in the 8K distance.  Graham Peet finished in second for the Fords with a 45th place overall finish, crossing in a time of 25:28, just short of a career best.  Jimmy Gorman was the third finisher for the Fords with a 25:33 time, good for 54th overall, while Ryan Herlihy crossed in 59th with a time of 25:35, a new career best. Greg Morgan rounded out the Haverford top five with a 72nd place finish in a career-best 25:40.

Dylan Gearinger crossed in 88th, scoring 87 points with a time of 25:47, a new career best.  Charlie Hale rounded out the scorers for the Fords, finishing in 145th and scoring 138 points for the Fords with a time of 26:11.

Outside of the scoring seven for Haverford was James Stadler, who crossed the finish in a career-best 26:19 for 160th and Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe, who recorded a career-best time of 26:30, good for 189th. Michael Schach finished in 26:33 in 195th place to round out the Fords contingent.

The race was won by Princeton, while NYU was the top Division III entrant. Individually, Bryce England of Saint Francis won the competition with a time of 24:38.

Haverford also had 15 harriers competing in the 8K open race. Peter Kurtz finished in 121st in a time of 26:14 to lead the Fords in the race.  Julian Schneider (26:25) and Chris Goings (26:39) also broke the 27 minute mark in the contest for Haverford. Haverford alumni Charlie Marquardt finished sixth overall in the open competition.

The Fords will next return to action on Saturday, October 15 at the Rowan Inter-Regional. Race time is slated for 11:45 a.m.
