No. 14 Men's Cross Country Kicks Off Season with Alumni Open

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 14-ranked Haverford College men's cross country team opened up the 2017 campaign at home, hosting the annual three-mile alumni/open meet on Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Cross Country course.

The race featured a total of 55 total entrants between the varsity, alumni and open divisions. Charlie Marquardt '16 paced the field with a time of 14:45. Second place belonged to Eric Arnold '12, who finished in 14:49. The top varsity finisher was Henry Woods, who finished in a personal best 14:59. Graham Peet (15:05) and Greg Morgan (15:18) rounded out the top five with their personal best finishes.

Sam McCalpin (15:24), James Stadler, (15:24) and Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe (15:25) finished sixth through eighth. Brian Sokas '14 (15:33) and Jossi Fritz-Mauer '06 (15:49)  were ninth and 10th, respectively.

The squad returns to action on Friday, September 15 with the Main Line Invitational on the Haverford campus. The four-mile race is expected to begin at 5:30 p.m.
