GALLOWAY, N.J. – Haverford College senior Peter LaRochelle captured his second consecutive NCAA Metro Regional individual title on Saturday at the North Athletic Complex on the campus of Stockton University, leading the field of 186 competitors with a time of 24:34.8. Haverford finished third overall in the championship meet, earning 89 points, behind second-place Rowan (61 points) and regional champion Moravian (29 points).
Haverford has now claimed the individual title in the Metro Region for three consecutive seasons. LaRochelle's back-to-back crowns follow Ryan Kredell's championship performance in 2022. The Great Barrington, Mass., native is the 15th individual regional champion in program history and the first Haverford harrier to win multiple regional titles in a career since Charlie Marquardt achieved the feat in both 2014 and 2015.
The top seven runners not on a qualifying team will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships. LaRochelle, who will seek to reprise his All-America performance from 2023, will be joined by classmate senior Reza Eshghi, who secured automatic qualification with a fifth-place finish in 24:52.4. Together, they headlined Haverford's four USTFCCCA All-Region honorees.
Seamus Fraser earned his second consecutive All-Region distinction with an 18th-place finish (25:29.9), while Jakob Maiwald also placed within the top-35 cutoff, finishing 31st in 25:48.8.
Luke de Valpine narrowly missed an All-Region spot, finishing 36th (25:56.3). Evan Daniels placed 48th (26:30.3), and Micah Lachman crossed the line in 57th (26:49.3).
LaRochelle and Eshghi will now represent the Fords at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 23, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Competition at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course is set to begin at noon.
The official NCAA selection announcement is expected on Sunday afternoon via an NCAA.com press release.
