Men's Cross Country Tied for Third in USTFCCCA Poll Ahead of Paul Short Run

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's cross country team is tied for third in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll, the organization announced in a release on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fords, idle last weekend, moved to a third-place tie with RPI in the fourth weekly rankings. Each team received 256 voting points. North Central (Ill.) took the top spot in the ranking while Washington-St. Louis is pegged second. Pomona-Pitzer remained stagnant at No. 5 in the weekly poll. Williams, Middlebury, and Calvin take up the sixth through eighth slots in the poll while Centennial Conference foe Johns Hopkins jumped seven slots into the top 10 at the ninth position. Carleton leaped up one spot for the No. 10 ranking.

Haverford is again the top team in the Mideast Regional rankings for the fourth consecutive week. The Fords check in ahead of No. 9 Johns Hopkins, No. 13 Carnegie Mellon, No. 32 Dickinson, and Stevenson.

The Fords will now head to the Paul Short Run on Saturday, September 29. Haverford will participate in the prestigious Gold Race which features No. 9 Johns Hopkins among other nationally ranked foes including No. 11 Amherst, No. 13 Carnegie Mellon, and No. 28 Christopher Newport. The race includes regionally-ranked Division I programs Penn, Saint Joseph's, Lehigh, LaSalle, and American. The Fords will also be running along Division I notables Georgia, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech. Last season, Haverford was the top Division III finisher in the grouping.

The Paul Short Run is expected to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the men's 8K open race. The men's gold race kicks off at 11 a.m.
