Mideast Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. - After a bye week from competition, the Haverford College men's cross country team retains the No. 25 national ranking in the fifth weekly in-season release of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) Division III National Coaches Poll, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon. Haverford is also fourth in the Mideast Region heading into the Inter-Regional Border Battle this weekend at Rowan.

The top five teams in the nation remain largely unchanged as Williams and North Central (Ill.) are again tied for first. Wartburg retains its No. 3 slot while No.4 Washington-St. Louis and No. 5 SUNY Geneseo swap places from a week ago.

The Fords received 87 voting points in the national poll. The Mideast Region landscape also includes No. 7 Carnegie Mellon, No. 8 Johns Hopkins and No. 22 Dickinson while the No. 25 ranked Fords are ahead of Elizabethtown, Swarthmore, York (Pa.), Moravian, Widener, and Stevenson.

The Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle highlights arguably the biggest race week of the season outside of postseason competition. No. 5 SUNY Geneseo, No. 7 Carnegie Mellon, No. 8 Johns Hopkins, No. 22 Dickinson and No. 32 NYU will all be competing against the Fords in a jam-packed event in South Jersey. Action in the championship race is expected to begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. at the Gloucester County DREAM Park in Logan Township.

The regional rankings and national poll will again be released two more times in the lead-up to NCAA Regionals. After the Centennial Conference meet slated for November 2 in Gettysburg, Haverford's Mideast Region race will be held at Lehigh on November 16.
