
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The 27th-ranked Haverford College men's cross country team kicked off the 2024 season with the annual Alumni/Open Race on an unseasonably chilly Saturday at the Alumni Cross Country Course.
A total of 57 runners, including varsity athletes, alumni, and open entrants, competed in the always spirited event. Ryan Kredell '23 reclaimed his overall title, finishing first with a time of 14:31, just ahead of senior Peter LaRochelle, who completed the course in 14:33. Senior Reza Eshghi followed in third place with a time of 14:43, while sophomore Owen Bluman (15:01) and senior Seamus Fraser (15:03) rounded out the top five. Aaron Bratt '23 was the second alumni finisher, clocking in at 15:05. Luke de Valpine (15:11) secured seventh place overall for the varsity squad, just ahead of Greg Morgan '19.
The alumni group put in a strong showing, with Morgan finishing in 15:14, closely followed by Hiro Kawakatsu '20 (15:18) and Matt Katz '22 (15:20). Junior Micah Lachman crossed the finish line in 15:18, while junior Jakob Maiwald (15:36) and senior Reed Solomon (16:03) secured top-15 finishes for the varsity.
