Women’s basketball set back by Bullets, 76-43

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team fell to host Gettysburg College, 76-43, Saturday afternoon at Bream Gym. The Bullets scored the first bucket of the game 43 seconds into the contest and led the rest of the way.

Nina Voith was the only Haverford (8-9, 5-7 CC) player to reach double-digits, scoring 15 points. Dominique Meeks added nine points.

Gettysburg (13-4, 8-4) received a whopping 46 points from its bench. Julie McGrory came off the pine to lead all scorers with 17 points while Caroline Murphy scored 12 points and collected 10 rebounds in a reserve role as well. Rianna Doane was the Bullets only starter to reach double-figures, scoring 12 points. In all, 10 different Gettysburg players scored at least one bucket.

The Bullets scored the first 11 points of the game while it took Haverford over six minutes to finally get on the board. Gettysburg led by as many as 23 points in the first half and took a 39-18 advantage into the break.

Haverford did its best to get back into the game by starting the second half on a 9-3 run. Meeks capped off a three-point play to bring the Fords with 13, 42-29, at the 14:19 mark. However, the Bullets went on a 17-0 run over the next five-plus minutes to take a commanding 30-point lead with less than nine minutes left.

Gettysburg outscored the Fords 32-14 in the paint and scored 35 points off 24 HC miscues.

After four straight road games, the Fords return to Gooding Arena Wednesday to host Muhlenberg College at 6 p.m.
