
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball team is receiving votes in the final Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III poll, the organization announced in a release on Monday afternoon. The Fords are one of nine teams listed as receiving votes in the coaches' last top 25 poll of the season.
Haverford finished its season with a 22-7 overall record, the second most wins in program history. The squad reached the NCAA Second Round after a spirited run through the Centennial Conference Championships which was capped by a 62-40 triumph over top-seeded Gettysburg in the Centennial Conference championship game. The conference championship was the the second in program history for the Fords, and the first since the 2013-14 campaign. Haverford was receiving votes in both national polls heading into the NCAA tournament, and gave voters a reason to believe with a resounding 43-point victory over Main Line neighbor Rosemont then propelled Haverford into a second round matchup with No. 4 Tufts. The Fords gave regional host Tufts all it could handle in a 52-46 defeat. Tufts later reached the Elite Eight.
Undefeated national champion Thomas More (33-0) was a unanimous selection to the top slot.
Heading in the 2019-20 campaign, Haverford will have the tough task of replacing the leadership and production of co-captains Macy Goldbach and Katie Cook, but starters Maddie Gallic, Anna-Sophia Capizzi, and Megan Furch will all return for their senior seasons to help headline the roster for the defending conference champions.
