
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team (3-3) defeated the Rosemont College Ravens (0-6) by a score of 75-29 under the lights of Gooding '84 Arena on Saturday afternoon.
After a back-and-forth start between the Ravens and Fords, the hosts began to pull away, going on an 11-2 scoring run to take a commanding 16-5 lead. During the run, Haverford featured four different scorers: Brianna Feifer and Caroline Orza each added two points, Abby Ryan tacked on four, and Sophie Baker connected on a three-pointer to push the Scarlet and Black's lead to nine. Lakay Holloway and Shae Mercer traded three-pointers, with Mercer's trey beating the buzzer to end the quarter at 19-8 in favor of the hosts.
Haverford shifted into cruise control in the second quarter, opening with a 13-0 scoring run to extend their lead to 32-8 with 1:40 left in the half. Feifer added four more points, while Baker, Orza, and Siena Emuobor contributed three points each, with Baker and Orza connecting from beyond the arc. Rosemont managed only four more points in the quarter as the Fords entered the halftime break with a dominant 32-12 advantage. At the half, Feifer led all scorers with nine points, while Emuobor impressed on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds in just over 16 minutes of play.
After the break, the Scarlet and Black opened the third quarter with a 12-6 scoring run, prompting a timeout from the Ravens at the 5:06 mark. The stretch included four points from Emuobor and five from Orza, highlighted by another triple from Orza.
Following the timeout, Rosemont found some offensive rhythm, trading baskets with Haverford. The hosts narrowly outscored the visitors 7-6 to close the third quarter with a 51-24 lead. The Ravens found success at the free-throw line, scoring four of their six points from the stripe. During the stretch, Orza contributed five points, while Feifer added two more.
The final quarter saw Haverford dominate, outscoring Rosemont 28-1. Cayla Menicola emerged as a key contributor down the stretch, scoring 10 points to reach double digits for the first time in her collegiate career. Feifer was flawless from three-point range in the fourth quarter, going 3-for-3 to add nine points and bring her season-high total to 21. The Fords cruised to a commanding 75-29 victory.
Rebounding was the key to Haverford's success, as the Fords outrebounded the Ravens 56-38, with Emuobor collecting a game-high 11 boards. Haverford also dominated second-chance points, boasting a 17-0 edge in that category. Additionally, the Ravens turned the ball over 27 times compared to the Fords' 17, with Haverford converting those turnovers into 30 points.
Following the Thanksgiving break, Haverford will begin Centennial Conference play on the road, traveling to Collegeville, Pa., to face the Ursinus Bears on December 4. Tip-off for the first conference game of the season is set for 6 p.m.
