IWLCA Names 2024 Division III All-Region Teams
HAVERFORD, Pa. - Four members of the Haverford College women's lacrosse team were honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as members of the All-Metro Region team, the organization announced in a release on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Brooke Epstein earned a spot on the first team, while senior Lizzie Healy joined juniors Tiffany Mikulis and Eva Baumann on the second team. The 2024 selections represent the second consecutive season that the Fords have placed four members on the All-Region squads, as last season was also the first time since the 2011 season that Haverford had four selections.
Ranking in the top five of the Centennial Conference offensively, Epstein started all 19 games for Haverford and led the Fords in points (83), goals (61), and free-position goals (14) to pick up All-Region honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore from Hillsborough, N.C., recorded eight games this season with at least four goals, including a six-goal outburst against McDaniel on April 6. She added five goals against then-No. 2 Franklin & Marshall on April 20. Epstein has been among the most prolific scorers in the nation as she ranks in the top 100 for goals (78th) and points (87th) among all of Division III.
A stalwart along a stifling Scarlet and Black defense, Healy, a senior co-captain, has earned an All-Region nod for the first time in her career. Tied for third in the Centennial, the senior captain led the Fords in ground balls with 42. Healy collected at least four ground balls in four separate games in 2024, including a season-high five ground balls at Muhlenberg on March 30 and against Dickinson on May 1. Finishing second on the team with 28 caused turnovers, the Swarthmore, Pa., product notched three games with at least three caused turnovers or more, including a season-high five caused turnovers against Dickinson on May 1.
Mikulis, also named an honorable mention U.S. Lacrosse Magazine All-American and first-team All-Conference selection, picked up a second consecutive IWLCA honor as she had a splendid 2024 season that saw the midfielder pace the Scarlet and Black in draw controls with 67. Mikulis corralled five or more draw controls in eight different matchups this year, including three games that saw the midfielder pick up seven draw controls (vs. Ursinus on April 17, vs. No. 2 Franklin & Marshall on April 20, at Swarthmore on April 27). She added six in the NCAA tournament contest with Cabrini.
The junior ranked second on the team in goals (43), points (50), free-position goals (5), and third in ground balls (37). The Hopkinton, Mass., product registered three goals or more in eight separate contests this season, including a four-goal game against Ursinus on April 17 and a four-goal game against No. 2 Franklin & Marshall on April 20.
Baumann picked up IWLCA All-Region honors for the second consecutive season as she was the anchor of a backline that ranked fourth in the Centennial Conference in defense. Ranking third in the Centennial, Baumann led Haverford in caused turnovers with 31, where the Brookline, Mass., native posted five caused turnovers against Washington College on April 3. The junior also ranked second on the team with 37 ground balls scooped, collecting at least four ground balls in three different contests (vs. Scranton on March 2, at Muhlenberg on March 30, and vs. Washington College on April 3).
A total of 256 student-athletes were named to the Division III IWLCA All-Region Teams. The organization will announce the Division III All-American teams on May 24.
