Women's Tennis Closes with 8-1 Win over Gettysburg

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team closed out its spring season with a resounding 8-1 win against Gettysburg. The Fords dropped just five games during all three doubles matches and picked up five straight set victories in singles to cement their season.

Greta Koch and Courtney Ahmed started the day with an 8-0 blanking of their opposition in doubles. Koch and Ahmed finish the season with three wins as a doubles pairing. The No. 1 pairing of Robyn Himelstein and Abby Payson recorded an 8-2 victory in their position. The Fords' No. 1 pairing finished the year with six victories together.

Haverford capped its doubles performance with an 8-3 win in the third position. In that slot, Caroline Steliotes and Stephany Prodromos recorded their third win together. Those three victories in doubles made the Fords 25-23 in doubles matches during the spring season.

In singles action, the trio of Koch, Payson, and Steliotes each allowed just one game to their Bullet counterparts. Steliotes took her win by a 6-1, 6-0 score to finish her season with seven wins. Koch and Payson were 6-0, 6-1 winners. Koch finishes her season with nine victories dating back to the fall, while Payson won seven matches during her spring season.

Himelstein went out a winner in her final match as a Ford. The team's lone senior conceded just one game in each set during her final performance. She finishes the year with a team-best 13 wins, including nine that came at No. 1 singles. Ahmed also won for Haverford by a convincing 6-2, 6-1 score. She won eight matches this season. Gettysburg's lone team point of the afternoon came at No. 6 singles.

Women's tennis finishes its spring season with seven victories. Today's win marked the team's third triumph against a Centennial Conference opponent this spring.
