FREDRICKSBURG, Va. – The Haverford College women's tennis team opened day one of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships with a number of players advancing through the draws on Saturday afternoon.

Jane Bary was victorious in both championship singles and doubles. Starting her day in doubles with partner Anne Tobin, that pairing advanced the Round of 32 with a hard-fought 9-7 tiebreak win after evenly splitting the first 16 games of their match against opponents from Carnegie Mellon. However, that pairing dropped its next match versus the top-seeded doubles pairing from Johns Hopkins.

Bary also won her opening match in championship singles with a tiebreak first set before cruising to a 6-1 win in the second against Sophie Dixon from host Mary Washington. Unfortunately, she was also tripped up in the Round of 32 for singles play, falling 6-3, 6-3 to Salisbury's No. 6 seed Annika Kezman.

In other championship draw action, first years Claire Johnson and Anne Tobin were defeated in the Round of 64 but will look to bounce back tomorrow in consolation singles. The championship doubles pairing of Natalie Williams and Johnson was also upended in the opening round and will be back on the courts Sunday morning to start its consolation rounds.

In the other singles draws, Natalie Williams advanced to the quarterfinals of Flight D with an 8-5 win against Christopher Newport's Ana Clara Borga. Willams was however edged by Virginia Wesleyan's Audrey Bally in an 8-5 match during the quarterfinal round. In Flight C action, Sarah Evenson – who played only singles – fell to Centennial Conference foe Lydia Fox of Dickinson and will get her consolation round action started on Sunday evening against Lisa Genadry of Catholic.
