HAVERFORD, Pa. - The 39th-ranked Haverford College women's tennis team (1-0, 1-0 CC) started their season on a high note Sunday morning, defeating Centennial Conference foe Muhlenberg (0-2, 0-1 CC) by a score of 7-0 under the lights of the Alumni Field House.

New for the 2025 season, only one point will be awarded to the team who won at least two of the three doubles matches, and Haverford took advantage of that new format, sweeping doubles play. After Lucy King and Sriya Krishnan won by default on court three, the duo of Rachael Fitzgerald and Abhishree Menon defeated Caitlyn Bestrycki and Alexandra Downey 6-0, before the pairing of Mallika Reddy and Erika Phanord swept past Jordyn Brown and Alexandra Roehl 6-0, to wrap up doubles action.

Already up 1-0, the Fords gained another early point, as Krishnan won by default on court six, to go up 2-0 in the overall match score.

Fitzgerald continued her winning ways on court one, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Bestrycki, followed by a 6-0, 6-0, win for Reddy over Downey on court three, to secure Haverford's clinching fourth point.

King turned away Brown on court two 6-0, 6-0, for the Fords' fifth point of the day, just before Phanord earned her second victory of the day, by prevailing over Roehl 6-1, 6-0, on court four. Rounding out the dominant win for Haverford was Menon, who shut down Lauryn Glass 6-0, 6-0.

Women's Tennis returns to action on March 10 for the annual spring break trip. The Fords will head down south to take on 37th-ranked North Central in Orlando, Fla., the first of five matches in the Sunshine State, with four coming against nationally-ranked competition. First serve against the Cardinals is slated for 2:30 p.m. ET.
