Women's Track & Field Starts Outdoor Season at Danny Curran Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team got its outdoor season underway with one throwing event and a pair of distance races at Widener's Danny Curran Invitational on Friday night. The Fords came away with a pair of runner-up finishes.

Haverford's largest contingent of the night ran in the 5,000 meters as Hannah Doll finish second only to Kelley Riffenburgh '15 who was competing unattached. Doll crossed the line with a time of 18:41.36. Sarah Wade (19:08.25) and Julia Smith (19:20.05) finished in the fourth and eighth positions. Alison Love placed 17th in this event with a time of 21:24.23.

MaryKate Cavanaugh took second in the 10,000 meters with a time of 41:11.35. Angie Petrichenko was next across the finish line as she placed third with a time of 41:34.69.

In tough throwing conditions, Claire Sargent got her outdoor season underway with her best throw in the shot put being marked at 11.57 meters. That mark was good for fourth place overall at the end of the evening.

The Danny Curran Invitational will continue through Saturday as action resumes at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
