
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's track & field team began day one of the Centennial Conference Championships on Friday afternoon at Patterson Field on the campus of Ursinus College. The day was highlighted by action in the heptathlon, hammer throw, and 10000 meters.
The day began with the heptathlon where Beatrice Di Girolamo and Ella Fleming started off the event with the 100 meters hurdles. Di Girolamo placed sixth with a time of 16.87, while Fleming notched a personal best time of 17.58 for seventh place. In the high jump, Di Girolamo placed fifth by jumping a personal best 1.42 meters (4 feet, 7.75 inches), before Fleming garnered sixth place with a leap of 1.36 meters (4 feet, 5.50 inches).
In the 200 meters, Di Girolamo collected 27.99 in the 200 meters, followed by Fleming in seventh with a time of 28.61. Moving over to the throwing pit, Di Girolamo captured sixth with a throw of 8.66 meters (28 feet, 5 inches), before Fleming took home eighth with a toss of 7.75 meters (25 feet, 5.5 inches).
Sarah Wilcher was the lone Haverford representative in the hammer throw, as the junior hurled the hammer 40.14 meters for fifth place, logging a new season-best mark.
Capping off the night was the 10,000 meters, with Julianna Watson leading the way. The senior earned 13th place with a time of 41:34.22. Right behind Watson was Krysta Nichols in 14th with a time of 44:24.07, before Audrey Carter placed 16th with a time of 45:13.22.
The women's track & field team will return to Patterson Field for a jam-packed day two of the Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, May 2. The first events of day two will begin at 10:30 a.m.
