Career comes to a close for McComas at CSA Individual Championship

HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior Andy McComas of Haverford College's men's squash team closed out his final season with the Fords on Friday afternoon at the College Squash Association 2013 Individual Championship, falling twice in the double-elimination Molly Cup bracket.

McComas' opening match came against Nick Marks of Williams College on Friday morning in the opening round of 64. McComas battled Marks through the opening set before succumbing by a score of 11-7, then was unable to rally from the deficit as Marks won games two and three for the match victory.

The loss shifted McComas, Haverford's No. 1 player this season, into the consolation bracket where Bates College's Kristian Muldoon awaited after also losing in the opening round.

Again, McComas put forth a solid effort in a game one loss, 11-6, and then ran out of steam, dropping the next two games to Muldoon by scores of 11-2 and 11-3.

Regardless of Friday's outcome, McComas capped off his stellar senior campaign becoming the second consecutive Fords player to earn an invitation to the CSA individual tournament. McComas registered a 23-36 career record while playing for Haverford including a 13-25 mark competing at the top of the Fords' ladder in the No. 1 slot.

The Molloy Cup bracket included players ranked 33rd or higher in the national rankings. The Pool Cup housed the top 32 collegiate players in the nation.
