Men's Squash Participates in Intercollegiate Doubles Championships

PHILADELPHIA – The Haverford College men's squash team had seniors Nathan Vestrich-Shade, Laurenson Ward, Jonathan Nguyen and Alex Egilman participate in the 2015-16 Intercollegiate Doubles Championships this weekend.

As the No. 15 seed, the duo of Vestrich-Shade and Ward dropped its first round matchup to No. 2 seeded Senen Ubina and Billy Kacergis of Navy, 11-3, 11-6, 11-8. Ubina and Kacergis would go on to win the tournament. In the consolation round, the Haverford seniors fell in a closely contested match to Franklin and Marshall's Samm Fulton and Ishan Advani, 16-14, 11-7, 13-11.

The No. 7 seeded Fords' duo of Nguyen and Egilman lost to St. Lawrence's Lockie Munro and Timothy Lasusa 11-5, 12-10, 11-6 in their first match. In their consolation match, Nguyen and Egilman succumbed to Navy's James Kjorlien and Dylan Sweeney, 11-1, 11-6, 11-9.

The Haverford College men's squash team won five of its final seven matches last year en route to 11 wins, the most since 2006-07. The Fords' 2015-16 season gets underway with the Swarthmore Garnet coming to the GIAC Squash Courts on Halloween (Oct. 31).
