College Squash Association Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Jonathan Nguyen was selected as the Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week, the College Squash Association announced today. He is the second Ford on the men's squash team to ever receive the award, joining sophomore Zach Cole who won the weekly accolade last season.

Nguyen went 2-1 over the weekend. With Haverford and Fordham squared at two matches each, the senior scored a four-game victory (9-11, 11-8, 11-2, 11-9) over James Shinnick at the No. 5 position. Nguyen's win proved to be crucial as Haverford won the match, 5-4.

After dropping a match vs. Navy, Nguyen found himself down a game to Richmond's Reed Carlisle. The Ford rallied with three straight wins to take the match in four (8-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-6). Nguyen now has 17 career victories.

Just like last year, the men's squash team stands at 3-1 overall after its first four matches of the season. Both Haverford squash teams welcome Dickinson (10:30 a.m.) and Vassar (3:30 p.m.) to the GIAC Squash Courts this Saturday.
