NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Haverford College men's squash team defeated Fordham University by a score of 8-1 in its first match of the Chaffee Cup in the College Squash Association's (CSA) Team Championships on Friday afternoon at Wesleyan University.

Five different Haverford players had perfect 3-0 sweeps in defeating their opponents. Sophomore Zach Cole delivered an especially impressive performance, allowing only nine total points to Fordham's James Potts (11-1, 11-3, 11-5).

Jonathan Nguyen, Aaron Horwitz, Yash Singh, and Laurenson Ward also needed just three games to defeat their counterparts. Horwitz, a junior, has registered a sweep in each of the Fords' last four matches.

In the No. 8 spot, Ryan Dukarm made a successful comeback after stumbling in his first game to win the next three games 11-9, 12-10, and 11-7. Alex Liu and Peter Dudley also won their four-game matches in comeback fashion.

The win gives the Fords a 9-11 overall record this season and keeps their four-match winning streak alive.

With the win, head coach Niki Clement's team has reached the semifinals of the Chaffee Cup and will face No. 34 Connecticut College on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wesleyan University. Haverford lost a 5-4 nail biter to Connecticut College earlier this season. The team championships continue through Sunday.
