MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Haverford College men's squash team finished fourth in the Conroy Cup division after falling in the grouping's third-place match at Wesleyan on Sunday as CSA Men's Team Championships action concluded.  Haverford finishes the season with a 10-7 record while Tufts ends its campaign with a 10-12 record.

Haverford reached the 10-win plateau for the third time in four seasons in 2018. The Fords will take the No. 28 ranking into the offseason, the best year-end ranking for the Fords since the 2004-05 season when the Fords also finished 28th in the nation.

After the first round of matches, Haverford found itself in an early 3-0 hole. Ryan Dukarm was swept at the ninth flight by Imran Trehan (11-8, 11-4, 11-7). At the sixth flight, Senior co-captain Zach Cole was deadlocked in a five-game battle after taking a 2-0 lead over Connor Wind, falling in five as Wind stormed back with 11-6, 12-10 and 11-3 victories. The final score of the match was 7-11, 9-11, 11-6, 12-10, 11-3.

At the third flight, Davis Chase fell behind, dropping the first two games as Cameron Ewan took 11-5 and 12-10 victories. Chase battled back to take 11-8 and 11-7 wins before falling in the deciding game by a final of 11-9.

At the eighth position, Yash Singh was defeated by Amun Sahrawat (11-8, 11-9, 14-12) and Andre Giglio was defeated by Salik Awan in four at the fifth position on the ladder (11-8, 7-11, 11-6, 11-3). Senior co-captain Peter Dudley picked up the win at the second flight, taking the victory with wins in three straight games after surrendering the first two to Brett Raskopf of the Jumbos. Dudley posted a 7-11, 8-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-4 victory, rallying back from the brink of defeat to deliver a much needed win for Haverford. Dudley finishes the season 13-4 and finishes his team career with a Haverford career record of 46 individual wins.

As was the theme all afternoon, nothing was easy for either squad as Thomas Kaye outlasted Daniel Hutt at the seventh flight. Kaye took the first two games by 12-10 and 11-9 scores before Hutt answered with a pair of victories to knot the score. In the deciding fifth game, Kaye needed extra points to seal the win. The match score was 12-10, 11-9, 5-11, 9-11, 14-12.

At the fourth position, Fitz Dougherty posted a four-game win over Aidan Porges of the Jumbos, rallying from a 9-11 loss in the first game to take 11-5, 11-8 and 12-10 victories in the next three games to give Haverford its third win of the day. Dougherty finishes his first year campaign with an impressive 14-3 record, leading Haverford in individual wins.

Tate Miller faced a tough opponent at the top flight, as Raghav Kumar of Tufts posted a sweep with 11-6, 11-4 and 11-7 game scores.

The Fords will now await the release of parings for the CSA Individual Championships, which will be slated for March 2-4 in Washington, D.C. The championships are hosted by George Washington.
