HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College men's squash senior Noah Tunis has been named to the All-Liberty League Second Team, while sophomore Francis Betkowski, and first-years Henry Jiang and Tarun Sargunar earned All-Liberty League honorable mention honors.
Honorable mention recognition is awarded to student-athletes who receive votes from at least one-third of the coaches but are not selected for the first or second team.
Tunis, a Baltimore, Md. native, competed exclusively at the top flight this season, finishing with a 5-15 record. Four of his wins came against Liberty League opponent Vassar, and he added a victory over Fordham at the CSA Team Championships. A two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection, Tunis served as team captain and concluded his Haverford career with 24 total victories, never competing below the third flight and playing at No. 1 for his final two seasons.
Betkowski earns his second consecutive Liberty League honorable mention nod. The Mercersburg, Pa. product posted a 10-10 record, primarily competing at the No. 7 position, where he went 7-4. He was 2-1 at both the Liberty League Championships and the CSA Divisional Championships. From Nov. 17 to Feb. 9, Betkowski put together an impressive 8-3 stretch.
Jiang made an immediate impact for the Fords in his first collegiate season, finishing with a 7-11 record at the fourth flight. He went 2-1 at both the Liberty League Championships and the CSA Divisional Team Championships. The Vancouver, B.C. product played a crucial role in Haverford's highest-ever Liberty League finish, helping secure third place with a match-clinching win in a 5-4 victory over Denison in the third-place playoff.
Sargunar, of Johns Creek, Ga., was another standout first-year, compiling an 8-7 record while competing at the fifth flight. He closed the season on a three-match winning streak at the CSA Divisional Team Championships, including a dominant 11-5, 11-2, 11-4 win in the opener over Robert Cruikshank of No. 33 Fordham. In round-robin play against No. 32 Vassar, he defeated Razaan Lalji in straight games (11-3, 13-11, 11-7) before securing a key 11-9, 10-12, 11-6, 11-4 win over No. 30 Denison in the Conroy Cup championship match. Sargunar, who was also named Liberty League Rookie of the Week in November, finished his debut season with an 8-7 mark.
The 2024-25 season marked Haverford men's squash's second full year in the Liberty League. The Fords finished 8-12 overall, secured third place in the Liberty League, and were runners-up in the Conroy Cup at the CSA Divisional Championships in Philadelphia earlier this month.
