COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's track team placed second in the Centennial Conference championships for the fourth straight season after wrapping up the tournament Sunday. The Fords gathered 184 points, falling just behind Johns Hopkins' 195 and well ahead of third-place Ursinus' 66. Haverford placed first in seven out of 17 events in the two-day tournament. No other school won more than three.

Haverford senior Charlie Marquardt finished atop the leaderboard in the mile run with a time of 4:18.20 and in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:38.69. He also placed second in the 800 meter run (1:54.59). Earlier in the season, Marquardt made headlines when he ran the fifth-fastest mile (4:02.24) in Division III indoor track & field history at the FastTrack National Invite in early February. A week prior, he set a Centennial Conference record in the 3,000 (8:06.56) at the Villanova Invitational. Sophomore Henry Woods placed second in both events, with a time of 4:18.48 in the mile and 8:39.25 in the 3,000 meters.

Freshman Liam Lynch took home the gold in the 400 meter dash after qualifying as the third seed. Lynch's final time was 49.85 seconds, a new personal best and tops in the Centennial Conference this season. He also placed second in the 200 meters, setting another new personal with a time of 22.90 seconds.

Haverford senior Jeffrey Ainsley placed first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.37 seconds. Last season, he set the conference record in the same event in 8.33 seconds. Ainsley also competed in the heptathlon, finishing second. In the first event of the day, the Haverford senior picked up where he left off on a successful Saturday, finishing first in the 60 meter hurdle portion of the heptathlon with a time of 8.41 seconds. His time was over half of a second ahead of his closest competitor. Shortly afterwards, Ainsley gathered some points in the final portion of the heptathlon by finishing third in the pole vault (3.65 meters). Ainsley also finished second in the high jump, reaching a height of 1.9 meters.

Haverford took first place in two out of three relays as the 4x200 team (Lynch, Jonathan Yellets, Alex Frost, and Ainsley) placed first with a time of 1:32.43 after qualifying as the top seed during the season. Their time marked the fastest in the conference this season, trumping the school's previous season-best set at the Keogh Invitational. The Fords also won the event last year. In the 4x400, the team (Yellets, Frost, Lynch, and Dorvil Gabriel) finished first (3:26.26), marking Haverford's first win in the event since 2005. The 4x800 team placed second.

Haverford's distance medley team placed second, just over a second later than first place Swarthmore. The team of Greg Morgan, Zach Oji, Chris Goings, and Tyler Fong finished in 10:30.22.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's team has won 17 of 23 Centennial Conference indoor titles. Several of Haverford's athletes look to continue their season at the NCAA Division III 2015 Indoor Championship on Mar. 11-12 in Grinnell, Iowa.
