Men's Track and Field Competes in the Danny Curran Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. -- The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team started its season strong with two excellent performances on Friday to begin the Danny Curran Invitational and then continued the success on the second day of the Widener-hosted event. On Friday, sophomore Henry Woods finished atop the leaderboard in the 5,000 meter run, while seniors Dylan Verner-Crist and Sam Fujimorifinished among the top three in the 10,000 meters.

On Saturday, Graham Peet added to that list with a first place showing in the steeplechase. Peet crossed the line in a time of 9:48.37. The 4x100 relay team finished second overall and first among school-affiliated teams with a final time of 44.05 seconds. 

In the 1,500m run, freshman Peter Kurtz placed fifth with a final time of 3:58.13. Junior Julian Schneider (4:03.77) and freshman Greg Morgan (4:04.88) finished 10th and 11th in the run. Schnieder was just about a tenth of a second behind his personal best in the event (4:03.64), set at the 2015 Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.

Senior Jeffrey Ainsley took third in the 100m hurdles, clocking in at 15.83 seconds. Ainsley was just about seven tenths of a second behind the leader. In the 400m hurdles, Ainsley turned a fifth place finish at 56.82 seconds. Teammate Dorvil Gabriel finished two places behind Ainsley in the 100m at 16.25 seconds. Gabriel also competed in the triple jump, placing fourth with a 12.78m mark. 

Jonathan Yellets picked up a top ten finish in the 400 meters, placing fifth overall and third among students with a final time of 49.87 seconds. 

In the field, senior Robert Parry took home a ninth place finish with an 11.84m mark in the shot put. 

The outdoor track & field team season will continue this Friday as the team will send competitors to both the Princeton Distance Night and the West Chester Invitational. Both events will continue into Saturday.
